摘要
Ionic liquids (ILs) are widely applied in many fields, such as separation, catalysis, sensing and electrochemistry. However, in these processes, ILs tend to thermally decompose or/and volatilize when exposed to specific temperature and pressure. Therefore, high thermal stability of ILs is a prerequisite for the industrial application of ILs. Here, the effects of chemical structure and external factors on the thermal stability of ILs are provided; factors influencing the measured apparent thermal stability are summarized; several strategies to enhance the thermal stability of ILs are proposed. This review would be helpful for designing ILs with high thermal stability and evaluating the thermal stability of ILs with high precision. (C) 2022 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
