Magnetic cage: Simple cobalt(II) diketonates react with triols under solvothermal conditions to give a family of compounds based on supertetrahedral cage structures: a regular and a distorted {CoII10} species, and a bi-supertetrahedral {CoII19} species. Magnetic studies show unusual properties, such as nonvanishing magnetization below 12 K, which until now have only been detected in a family of {Ni 10} clusters.
