摘要:
BACKGROUND: Congenital hepatic fibrosis is an uncommon disease of undetermined etiology that may present clinically with portal hypertension or cholangitis. Histologically the liver is characterized by portal fibrosis and an increase in portal ductal structures. CASE: A 46-year-old male with a history of congenital hepatic fibrosis presented with abdominal pain and was found to have a 2 x 3-cm liver nodule. Fine needle aspiration biopsy showed hepatocytes and abundant bile duct epithelium. CONCLUSION: This report expands the spectrum of nonneoplastic diseases that have been sampled by fine needle aspiration biopsy.
