On-line supervision and control for cement production from vertical shaft kiln

The on-line supervision and control for cement production from vertical shaft kiln ( VSK) is presented in this paper. The system consisted of PC-bus based industrial computer is the low cost distributed control system, central computer -communication unit-local computer. The local computer control and monitor the various sections, as (1) control of raw material blending, (2) control of pre-watering granulating, (3) fuzzy control of vertical shaft kiln, (4) control of clinker material blending,etc. Communication unit completed communication of central computer and various local computers. The central computer can make control decision to local computers, record data for trending, time stamp data, generate reports, store and retrieve recipes, and display process information and alarm status to the operators. This system has worked in the plant for 2 years. Quality assurance and cost-effectiveness is achieved through powerful automation systems. Copyright (C) 1998 IFAC.
