摘要
Solidago chilensis is the American equivalent of Solidago virgaurea, of extended use in Europe and Japan as a medicinal plant. The inflorescences are a source of free and glycosilated flavonoids from the family of the kaempferol, quercetin and others. Tn this work the antioxidant capacity of diverse flower extracts containing flavonoids and flavonoid glycosides was studied. The total antioxidant capacity of extracts was monitored spectrophotometrically measuring the colour loss of solutions of p-carotene in presence of 0.1% hydrogen peroxide and compared to that of BHT in identical conditions. Two fractions were found which inhibit in average 40% more the beta-carotene oxidation than BHT at the same concentrations. The most effective of both fractions was composed of 50% quercetin.
