摘要
The outset of the Arab Spring, beginning with the Jasmine Revolution of Tunisia, in December 2010, followed by the other popular uprisings in some Arab states of North Africa and the Middle East, represents a milestone in the analysis of the processes of political and social modernisation of the Arab countries in this geopolitical area. The overthrow of the autocratic regimes in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, followed by the very difficult implementation of measures of political and social modernisation, was to highlight the difficulty of elaboration and application of reformist strategies in the Arab societies with a Muslim religious majority. Against the background of the modest results obtained in terms of political and social modernisation in the Arab world in the last five years, the assertion of the jihadism promoted by the Islamic State is an event that has a malefic influence on the processes of social and political modernisation of the Arab space.
