摘要
A neutron diffraction residual stress measurement program has been in place for several years at the National institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). in this paper recent progress made within the scope of that program in two areas is described: 1) the application of the neutron technique to engineering-related problems, i.e. the fabrication and characterization of a steel ring/plug residual stress reference specimen, and determination of stresses around a v-notch weld; 2) the design features of a new-semi-dedicated-stress measurement neutron diffractometer.
