摘要
Millimeter-waves (mm-wave) provide opportunities for wide bandwidth, required for future high speed and vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communications. In this paper, we present a mm-wave phased array based on tightly coupled dipole elements, operating from 17:7GHz to 32:8GHz for V2V applications. The proposed array is low profile with unit cell dimension of 5mm x 5mm. Full wave simulations, assuming infinite array, show that the single element achieves a gain of 4:09dBi at 28GHz. In addition, a link budget analysis to study the communication range among vehicles is provided by considering different finite array dimensions. The estimated link budget shows that for a 4 x 4 and 8 x 8 element arrays, the maximum range to transmit signals at a speed of 1 Gbps is 170 m and 700m, respectively.
