(Figure Presented) Let's twist again! Torsion is a chiral deformation. It can turn achiral objects into chiral ones, and discriminate between left-handed and right-handed chiral objects. This article focuses on the significance of carbon nanotubes which can be elastically twisted by 180 without breaking and act as a single-molecule torsional pendulum (see transmission electron micrograph). © 2006 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
