(Figure Presented) Pores for thought: Noble-metal catalysts supported on mesoporous zeolites have been found to be much more efficient than on microporous zeolites and γ-Al2O3 for the hydrodesulfurization of 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (DMDBT, see picture). This increased efficiency arises because the relatively large DMBT molecules can fit into the relatively large pores of the mesoporous zeolites and so reach many active centers. © 2008 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
