A contribution to hydrometallurgical processing of low-grade Egyptian dolomite deposits

摘要
The applicability of carbon dioxide pressure leaching for the production of high purity magnesium oxide from low grade dolomite deposits from different localities in Egypt was investigated. More than 90% of magnesium can be extracted from dolomite ores (Khaboba and Giran El-Foul) under the following conditions: calcination temperature 750 degrees C, leaching temperature 40 degrees C, carbon dioxide pressure 600 kPa and leaching time 120 min. The kinetics of the carbonation process and physico-chemical characteristics of magnesium oxide product were also investigated.
