Structures and magnetic properties of Nd-Fe alloys produced by the glass slag method

摘要
Nd-Fe alloys were produced by the glass slag method using boron trioxide to investigate the reaction between Nd and Fe alloys and boron trioxide. Boronizing of the Nd-Fe alloys took place when the solid Nd-Fe alloys and the molten boron trioxide were reacted. Formation of the Nd2Fe14B phase in the resultant specimens was clearly identified by X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. On the other hand, the extraction of Nd from the Nd-Fe alloys took place when the Nd-Fe melts and molten boron trioxide reacted. The resultant specimens contained no neodyrnium-related phase but consisted of the Fe2B and alpha-Fe phases. The extraction of Nd from the Nd-Fe alloys resulted in the formation of the NdBO3 phase in the glass slag materials. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
