On the silica/PMMA nanocomposites

摘要
Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) was introduced onto the surface of silane coupling agent (KH570) pretreated silica nanoparticles in solution polymerization. The surface structure and characteristics of modified silica powder were studied by FT-IR, SEM and TGA, etc. The sedimentation experiment was employed for the suspensions of the SiO2-g-PMMA hybrid nanoparticles in organic solvent to observe the stability. The modified powders and AIBN were added into MMA monomers, and silica/PMMA nanocomposites were synthesized. The nanocomposites were characterized by UV-vis, Sclerometer, DSC, etc. The results showed that the glass transition temperature and hardness of the silica modified PMMA increased, while the transparency decreased.
