Response of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) to nitrogen and sulphur application under rainfed condition

A field experiment was conducted during the winter of 1991-92 and 1992-93 to study the effect of 4 levels of N (0, 30, 60 and 90 kg/ha) and 3 Ievels of sulphur (0, 20 and 40 kg/ha) on growth, yield attributes and yield of Indian mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czernj, & Cosson] under rainfed conditions of eastern U.P. Significant increase in growth, yield attributes and yield (seed as well as stover) was recorded with increase in level of N up to 60 kg/ha. Sulphur @ 40 kg/ha significantly increased the growth, yield attributes and yield of Indian mustard compared with 0 and 20 kg S/ha.
