On the dispersive van der Waals forces

摘要
We compute the non-retarded dispersive force between an electrically polarizable atom and a magnetically polarizable one, We show, in agreement with Feinberg and Sucher's result, that while the retarded force is proportional to 1/r(8), the non-retarded one is proportional to 1/r(5). We give a physical interpretation for this rather unexpected result.
