摘要
In this paper the design of a microstrip patch antenna is presented. The antenna is designed to operate in a frequency range of 2.29 GHz to 17.28 GHz, which covers the Bluetooth and Ultra Wide Band. The antenna consists of a U-shaped patch with rectangular parasitic elements. A finite ground plane is used for impedance matching and quarter circular slots on the lower edges of finite ground plane are fabricated to increase the bandwidth. The overall dimensions of the designed antenna are 24x28x0.787 mm(3). A coplanar waveguide is used to excite the antenna. The center frequency of operation is 8.79 GHz and antenna has an excellent return loss of more than 10 dB and 170.54% impedance bandwidth. Apart from the proposed design, a parametric analysis is added to summarize the effect of various design parameters. This parametric analysis is very helpful for modifying the design according to requirements.
