摘要
At RIKEN-RAL muon facility of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (U1K) we have produced a pulsed LE-mu(+) beam with pulse duration of only 10 ns and performed mu SR experiments to demonstrate the capability to measure high spin precession frequency signals. The yield of pulsed LE-mu(+) has been steadily improving over the past 3 years and currently rates of up to 20 mu(+) per second are observed at the sample position. The overall cooling efficiency from the surface muon beam is now comparable to moderating the muon beam to epithermal energies in simple van der Waals bound solids. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V.
