Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) experiment in the infrared region using synchrotron radiation has been done for the first time. Since the off-axis component of the synchrotron radiation is circular polarization by itself, a MCD spectrum in wide energy range can be measured easily by using the infrared synchrotron radiation. The experimental method is suitable for the investigation of strongly correlated electron systems because the electronic structure, which is made by magnetic many-body interactions, is located in the wide energy region near the Fermi level. The experimental apparatus and a result of the MCD experiment of CeSb are reported.
