摘要
This article examines the following questions and issues. Is there common agreement about ethical principles or are there variations according to culture, time and place? Are there special issues in policy and research relating to older people compared with other age groups? Why is there interest in ethical issues and older people? It then examines three final questions. Is the medical model for ethical approval (especially for research) suitable for social care and the social sciences? Are there specific ethical issues for different groups - policy makers, practitioners. researchers and older people themselves? How helpful are guidelines?
