High-Temperature Chemical Compatibility of LaMgAl11O19 and La3NbO7 for Thermal Barrier Coatings with Al2O3

摘要
The chemical stabilities of two kinds of novel ceramic materials for TBCs (thermal barrier coatings), LaMgAl11O19 and La3NbO7, with Al2O3 was investigated by annealing approximate diffusion couples and mixed powder at high temperature of 1400, 1500 and 1600 degrees C respectively. The powder of LaMgAl11O19 and La3NbO7 was prepared by traditional solid state reaction. The SEM was used to observe the microstructure of the interface of the approximate diffusion couples, and the XRD was used to analyze the phase composition of the bulks of mixed powder sintered at high temperature. The results show that there was almost no chemical reaction between LaMgAl11O19 and Al2O3 in the temperature range of 1400 and 1600 degrees C. The chemical reaction of La3NbO7 and Al2O3 is quite intense; meanwhile, LaAl11O18, LaAlO3 and LaNbO4 is formed.
