摘要：

Hypertension is prevalent and strongly associated with the development of cardiovascular disease. The current recommendations for treatment of hypertension according to level of risk are examined. Nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic therapy are outlined. In particular, treatment recommendations and drug choices in the setting of diabetes mellitus, peripheral vascular disease, asthma, Raynaud's, gastroesphageal reflux disease, and renal insufficiency are reviewed. Effects on blood pressure of drugs used in rheumatologic practice are discussed.
