摘要
The Civil War in Yugoslavia in the 1990s significantly affected the lives of Croatian Czechs. In Slavonia and the Daruvar region, it escalated in the second half of 1991. Thanks to the Union of Czechs and Slovaks in Croatia and the Czech primary school of J. A. Komensky in Daruvar, more than 1.500 people were evacuated from the warzone - mainly children but other groups as well. However, the evacuation was just the beginning of the Save Our Children Movement. It was necessary to organize schooling for the evacuated children and secure learning books for them. The biggest responsibility was laid upon the teachers who had to take constant care of the children. The aim of the paper is to point out the importance of the Czech minority school in Daruvar which affected the entire local community. Thanks to its actions, no children died in the Daruvar region during the war.
