China's Internet industry develops rapidly along with the advent of the information age. Consequently, the network has become a major channel for college students to get information, do learning and researches, and enjoy leisure and entertainment. Meanwhile, it exerts a profound impact on their ideology, aesthetics and morality. In ethnic areas, agricultural techniques are comparatively backward, and the knowledge of minority compatriots is relatively poor. As the national voice, mainstream media has peerless advantages such as reliability, forward-looking, and large-scale dissemination. Hence it should take up the responsibility to guide college students in ethnic areas. Therefore, we do researches among universities in Guilin of Guangxi Province, aiming to figure out to what degree college students in ethnic areas accept mainstream media and what methods the mainstream media apply to guide the students.
