Surface tension of pure aluminum in argon/hydrogen and nitrogen/hydrogen atmospheres at high temperatures

摘要
The experimental evidence to support that the surface tension of pure aluminum is unaffected by small hydrogen additions in an inert gas atmosphere was presented. Hydrogen additions increased the rate at which surface tension decreased with temperature higher than 850°C. The effect was due to the reaction between nitrogen in the bubbling gas and hydrogen dissolved in the melt. Liquid aluminum served as a catalyzing agent in the reaction.
