Economic development and environmental policy in Hungary

This paper argues that the radical protection of the environment is not, first of all, a question of financial resources or available funds. Sustainable energy use, the establisment of environment friendly production and consumption patterns and the introduction of a revenue neutral ecological tax reform are the best agents to save the environment. In addition, the application of such patterns and measures could very significantly contribute to solving some of the acute problems of the economy. its modernisation and transition to a developed market economy.
