The production of biofuel from sugarcane is an alternative to encourage cultivation for the production of ethanol. In order to evaluate the ethanol production in 10 cultivars of Saccharum spp. Hybrid: V99-190, SP72-4928, C323-68, RB85-5035, CR87-339, V99-236, SP70-1284, V98-62, CP74-250 and V98-76 in a production cycle, an assay was performed on the municipality Febres Cordero, Merida state. A randomized block experimental design with four replications in the field and a simple fractionated distillation protocol, after fermentation for the extraction of ethanol in the laboratory, was used. The variables were tons of green cane.ha(-1) (TCH), total soluble solids (%pol), tons of sugar.ha(-1) (TAH), liters of ethanol.ha(-1) (Let.ha(-1)), efficiency in liters of ethanol per ton of cane (Let. TC-1) and concentration (%).The results indicated significant differences (p<0.01) between the cultivars for HCT, TAH, LEt.ha(-1), LEt.TC-1 and concentration and not significant (P >= 0.01) for %pol. The best values for TCH were obtained by the cultivars: RB85-5035 (144.1), V99-190 (143.8), V99-236 (142.6). For %pol stood out: RB85-5035 (15.68 %), V99-236 (15.66 %) and V98-62 (15.46 %). For TAH they highlighted the RB85-5035 (22.69), V99-236 (22.3), CR87-339 (21.6). In LEt. had, the best were the natives: V98-62 (12,824.6) and V99-236 (11,293.4) and the outsiders RB85-5035 (12,446.7) and CR87-339 (11,514) exceeding 12,000 LEt.ha(-1). For the efficiency in LEt.TC-1 the best were: V98-62 (92.3), RB85-5035 (86.1). While, in concentration they highlighted: RB85-5035 (64.5%), V99-236 (55.95%) and V98-62 (52.82%). It was conduded that the yields in ethanol and concentration were the foreign cultivars RB85-5035 and CR87-339 and the native cultivars V98-62 and V99-236.
