Measurement of activation cross sections for mercury isotopes in the neutron energy range between 13.4 and 14.9 MeV

摘要
Activation cross sections for mercury isotopes have been measured at neutron energy between 13.4 and 14.9 MeV by means of the activation method using Fusion Neutronics Source (FNS) at Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI). Measured cross sections are those of Hg-196(n, 2n)Hg-195m.g, Hg-198(n, Zn)Hg-197m.g, Hg-198(n, p)Au-198g, Hg-199(n, p)Au-199, Hg-200(n, p)Au-200m.g, Hg-201(n, p)Au-201, Hg-202(n, p)Au-202, Hg-204(n, 2n)Hg-203 and Hg-204(n, p)Au-204 reactions. The cross sections of the Hg-202(n, p)Au-202 and Hg-204(n, p)Au-204 reactions were measured for the first time. For the Hg-196(n, 2n)Hg-195m.g, Hg-198(n, 2n) Hg-197m.g, Hg-198(n, p)(198)gAu and Hg-199(n, p)Au-199 reactions, the cross sections at plural neutron energies were measured for the first time. The present data were compared with the experimental data reported previously and the recent evaluations, and it was shown that some evaluations need to be improved.
