摘要：

Cell proliferation as an indicator of malignancy traditionally attracts the attention of oncologists: uncontrolled malignant growth at different rates is one of the priority characteristics of tumors. Modern concepts of proliferation markers are amply discussed in the lecture. The authors emphasize that only equal attention to cell division and cell death, specifically, apoptosis, can provide a correct notion on the time course of tumor cell development.
