School science and public understanding of science

摘要：

In this paper we trace how the idea of measuring the connection between school science and the public awareness of science has evolved. In doing so, we draw the science education community's attention to the current OECD's Program for International Student Achievement (PISA) project for indicators of educational progress in science.
