In the last centuries the urban spreading of Rome from its historical center modified the landscape of the "eternal city" but also often interfered with geomorphological and hydrogeological processes, exposing some areas to natural hazards such as flood events, subsidence, collapse of cavities and landslides. The latter have historically affected, among others, the western slopes of the Monti Parioli hill (Viale Tiziano rockfall) and the Monteverde eastern sector where slow mass movements are still active. In an urban environment, characterized often by high level of "geophysical noise" and limited survey space and time, the combined application of near surface geophysical methods allows a first approximation of the subsurface setting and has the advantage of investigating and detecting inhomogeneities in large areas with a relatively low cost. The complexity of landslides often requires the application of different geophysical techniques, in order to derive a consistent model of the subsurface useful for the geotechnical characterization of instable slopes. This note deals with the application of integrated geophysical methods that, using 2D and 3D imaging techniques, support geological and geotechnical investigations in the study of two landslides in urban environment.
