Accurate frequency-dependent formula for series line impedance of microstrip on lossy silicon substrate

摘要
In this paper, we present new analytic model for frequency-dependent series line impedance of microstrip on lossy silicon substrate. The presence of lossy silicon substrate is included in the coupling equations for the magnetic vector potential by means of two basic concepts: the longitudinal current density distribution in silicon and frequency-dependent magnetic flux penetration into the silicon substrate which is called substrate skin effect. The closed-form expression for series impedance per unit length has been derived, based on a self-consistent field method to determine the current distribution in the structure. It is shown that the calculated frequency-dependent distributed inductance and the associated resistance are in good agreement with the results obtained from rigorous full wave solutions and closed-form solution using image plane concept.
