摘要
Chalcogenide vitreous semiconductors are chemical compounds of chalcogen S, Se or Te atoms combined with some other elements of another group of the periodic table obtained with melt-quench. Chalcogenide glasses plays an important role in various technological fields where their properties are engaged in computer memories, photo-detectors, telecommunications, chemical, and ionic sensors. These glasses have an excellent transmission in near and infrared spectral region. These glasses are used for preparing writing channel waveguides. A review of fabrication, structural and optical properties, applications generally for sensing is discussed in the present paper which can help the researchers to formulate their future research plan.
