摘要
Rehabilitation of the overhead athlete must take into account the loads required to perform their sport early in the postoperative treatment. While general concepts of range of motion and strength specific to the surgical repair are important, enhanced surgical and rehabilitative techniques have resulted in fewer complications and an expedited return to play progression. The biomechanical rehabilitative needs of the sport should include but not be limited to rotator cuff stability, scapular stability, core strength, hip mobility, hip stability, contralateral arm strength, and posterior kinetic chain strength. This chapter will address these rehabilitative approaches as the athlete transitions from postsurgical rehabilitation to optimal throwing performance. (C) 2020 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
