On interpretation of transference

On the basis of a developmental approach, the author emphasises the importance of the systematic interpretation of the transference in the here-and-now. Working through the essential object-related conflicts and the corresponding motivations when they are affectively intense and can be shown most convictingly to the patient in the analytic session, is - in her mind - the most powerful instrument for the creation of insight. Refering to the concept of the past unconscious and the present unconscious, she describes the dynamic and structural background of transference interpretations and, finally, illustrates her views by clinical material from the beginning phase of an analysis.
