In-situ measuring of the friction coefficient at the thrust bearings of scroll compressors

摘要
To simulate the performance of scroll compressors, we require to measure the friction coefficient at their thrust bearings. We did this, in-situ, by using a very simple special valve in the scroll compressor, that can set the back-pressure freely during operation. The friction coefficient under five working conditions typical of household air conditioners was about 0.02, when the refrigerant R410A and POE oil were used. Under all typical working conditions, the lubrication remained within the mixed lubrication region.
