摘要
It is known that intensive energy production and use are the main drivers of climate change. Furthermore, this change has increased significantly in recent years. This study examines the use of energy efficiency labels in Buenos Aires as an effective tool for mitigating climate change. To this end, we will discuss the main findings of a survey conducted in February 2021 among consumers in the aforementioned city. Thus, we will examine how certain consumers utilize these types of labels to overcome information asymmetries that can lead to market failures. In addition, we will examine how these consumers make purchasing decisions for energy-efficient products, and how energy efficiency labels affect these decisions. Moreover, we will analyze the socio-energetic context where these consumers behave and the legal framework governing the above-mentioned labels in Argentina. Finally, we will make some brief conclusions and recommendations.
