Construction and starting of a new stainless steel cold rolling plant in Thailand

Ugine SA decided during 1991 to build a new plant for cold rolled stainless steel in Thailand. After the description of the project and the main steps of the erection, start up period and production increase, the key points of this success are described. Respecting the initial schedule and the budget of 184 M.US$, the full capacity of 5000 t/month (60,000 t/year) was reached in November 1994, i.e. 34 months after the beginning of the works on a greenfield.
