We present the magnetocaloric properties of the substituted Heusler alloy Ni2Mn1-xCuxGa, which shows a maximum magnetic entropy change of Delta S-M approximate to-64 J/Kg K=-532 mJ/cm(3) K at 308 K for a magnetic field change Delta H=5 T. The dependence of Delta S-M on Delta H is approximately linear and does not reach saturation at 5 T. It is demonstrated that the temperature at which Delta S-M occurs can be tuned through subtle variations in composition.(c) 2006 American Institute of Physics.
