摘要
Event management is a fast growing professional area in which tourists form a potential market for planned events and a tourist destination becomes a fundamental interested party in the success and attractiveness of the event. The significance of the event as an element of a destination's tourist offer reflects in their tourist, social and cultural functions. The tourist function of the event is particularly contained in expansion of the destination tourist market, extension of tourist stays at a destination, building of a destination image and better destination promotion. Apart from attracting investment in a tourist destination, tourist events also represent an important attraction and animation factor at a destination. From the quoted knowledge emanates a need for systematic event research from the aspects of the economic, social and environmental event impacts in the sense of creation of event and tourist destination sustainability. Given the ever-increasing significance of events as an element of enrichment of a tourist choice and one of the fundamental motives for choosing a destination, as well as an ever-increasing amount of research on the topic of event sustainability, in this paper the authors particularly identify events by way of a detailed analysis and the possibility of management impact on raising the quality of a tourist destination. In this work, the importance of establishing the sustainability and responsibilities of events have been described by means of monitoring and measuring of the economic, social and environmental impacts. In order to establish event sustainability and responsibilities, in this work the method of case study has been used on the example of the art event of the Theatre Ulysses, which takes place at the National Park Brijuni, in the Republic of Croatia. Following the conducted case study, the research results show that, from the aspect of event sustainability, the largest part is made up of the social and economic sustainability, while the environmental sustainability takes last place. The research pointed to a lack of awareness by the organiser of the need to monitor the environmental impacts, especially those defined as ecological consumption impacts. In this paper, an attempt will be made to provide practical direction for the monitoring of event impacts, with the aim of answering the question "What measures must be taken by the event organisers in order for their events to be considered as sustainable and responsible?"
