Novel binary-phase WS(2)-C nanotubes were generated by pyrolyzing WO(3)-coated multiwalled carbon nanotubes in an H(2)S/N(2) atmosphere at 900 degreesC. The WS(2) coating acts as an anti-oxidizing agent.
