摘要
A retrospective study of 85 children (51 males, 34 females) who underwent surgeries with various shunts, and age at first surgery ranged from 20 days to 7 years and the follow-up from 2 months to 12 years. Shurt complication was experienced by 28/103 (27.2%) of the patients and there were 18 surgical reintervention: 19.4% obstruction; 5.8% shunt infection, disconnection; 1.9% hematoma due to overdrainage and good functioning resulted in 75 children (69.8%) with shunt surgery. The mortality rate related to shunt complication was 2.4% (2/85). For the assessment of the shunt independence, authors investigated the possibility of shunt independence for 6 patients with predictive shunt independence among 85 patients who underwent shunt surgery, and it was found a CSF flow with functioning tube by direct open-surgery and shuntogram.
