摘要
The objective of this bibliography is to illustrate the diversity of library resources on the global issues affecting women addressed by the United Nations' sponsored Fourth World Conference on Women, Beijing, China, September 4-15, 1995. Originally developed in 1994 for a forum held at San Francisco State University to increase awareness of global women's issues and to provide input to the official U.S. delegation to the Beijing conference, this guide covers the topics addressed by the U.N. conference and those that were presented to the workshops at the San Francisco State University forum. We have arranged this bibliography according to the following broad categories: reference sources, U.N. conferences on women, economics, education, environment health, human rights/law,immigration/ migration, politics/power, violence, and the information highway. A wide range of library resources, both in printed and electronic formats, is emphasized. Importantly, various search strategies which enable the researcher to find relevant books, articles, reports, and statistics on global issues affecting women are highlighted. This bibliography of resources and strategies is intended to point the way rather than provide a comprehensive list of titles. At the end of the bibliography is a list of the print and electronic sources used to identify the publications cited. These sources are representative of those typically found in medium to large academic libraries in the U.S. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
