Research and Implementation of a RESTful Open API Platform for Human Resource Management

With the advent of RESTful and Open APIs, leveraging the API-based programming to develop customized Web services has been a popular development model. This paper focuses on software design strateges to build a RESTful based Open API platform to give rise to mutually beneficial both the Human Resource agency and third-party developers. It provides an evaluation of the overall suitability of open APIs, built a prototyping system called HROP(Human Resource Open API Platform) and discusses research directions. The design features a three-tier architecture that insulates the custom, the service provider and the developer from the low-level system data and databases, and facilitates the Web application development. Design strategies covered include i)HR open model analysis and interface design; ii)a user certification model, based on OAuth API; iii) optimal interaction with back-end databases; iv) functions and algorithms to allow implementors the flexibility of supporting the particular HR modules appropriate for information retrieval, data mining and more efficient use of resources, which are available through a standardized REST web services interface.
