Dynamic Linewidth Measurements of Tunable Fiber Lasers for Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry

摘要
We describe a novel method for dynamic linewidth measurements of Piezoelectric Transducer (PZT) tuned fiber lasers for optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR) based on frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) delayed self-heterodyne beat interferometer technique, which is not frequency-shifted by acousto-optic modulator (AOM). By using normalized power spectrum with phase noise model of FMCW self-heterodyne beat interferometer, the dynamic linewidth during tuning are measured based on Lorentzian curve fitting. We also found that the reason for the laser dynamic linewidth broadened is that more severe fluctuation of laser optical frequency due to the ripple of PZT driven voltage.
