摘要
Accurate characterization and modeling of planar transmission line structures have become a necessity as it is no longer economical or even feasible, to tune the planar circuits once they are fabricated. Hence most of the practical planar structures are not amenable to closed form analytical expressions, the need for numerical methods for characterization have gained importance. Since the advent of microwave integrated circuits, numerical methods have been proposed and the some what more classical methods have been refined for these modern circuits. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages, but it must be emphasized that, more than one may be suitable for the solution of a given problem. This paper aims at the application of point collocation method for the analysis of Quasi - Planar Transmission line namely the coplanar waveguide (CPW). The point collocation method is a true mesh-less technique which scores the advantages of CPU time compared to conventional mesh methods. The Pertinent software code for implementation of analysis using collocation method has been written and implemented in Matlab. The quasi - static parameters such as characteristic impedance (Zo) and effective dielectric constant (epsilon(reff)) are evaluated at wireless frequency of 2.4 GHZ, for various w/h ratios with CPU time of 35.67 sec. and they show good agreement with the results obtained from ADS 2002C Line - cale which makes use of MoM analysis method.
