Tetranychus is a recurring pest of fruit trees including Annona muricata L. In Mexico, and especially in the state of Veracruz, there are no records of red spider mites, whose damage was observed in this study. Sampling in 41 commercial and in backyard orchards in Central Veracruz captured the mite Tetranychus mexicanus (McGregor) and phytoseids. The least phytoseid-tetranychid ratio was 1:5 and the greatest 1:45. The presence of phytoseids allowed us to conclude there are natural control species, and they have the potential to be considered when implementing control measures for the mite pest.
