摘要
This study illustrates the benefits and mechanisms of a geocell-reinforced sand foundation through experimental tests on a laboratory model. The experimental tests consisted of applying a vertical load gradually to a strip footing placed on unreinforced and geocell reinforced foundation of Nevada Sand. The depth of the geocell varied in the tests. The results indicated that under proper conditions, geocells increased the bearing capacity of the sand, intercepted the typical failure surfaces, prevented catastrophic failures, and reduced heave.
