摘要
Based on the detailed meteorological data in the Tengger Desert, this paper aims to clarify the characteristics of windblown sand and to show the dynamical environment in the Tengger desert. Results of data analysis indicate that both the wind direction and the sand-drift intensity exhibit obvious spatial and temporal variations. The prevailing wind directions for the desert are NW and SE, depending on the regional landform and season. The mean annual wind speed in the hinterland of the desert is greater than its periphery. The mean annual drift potential (DP) is 358.72 VU in Shapotou region on the southern margin of the desert, indicating the intermediate wind environment of the desert. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V.
