Organizational entrenchment in information technology companies and startups in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

摘要
Organizational entrenchment is a marked construct in the worker's cognition, which considers factors that limit their possibilities of insertion in other organizations. The start-up companies and information technology companies, meanwhile, are characterized by innovation and entrepreneurship. In such companies, is it possible to find someone who is "entrenched" or entrenched? What characteristics would such an individual have? By studying the issue of organizational entrenchment in a sector characterized by innovation and entrepreneurship, this research aimed to analyze the level of organizational entrenchment or entrenchment of workers in startups and information technology companies located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The research was characterized as descriptive with a quantitative approach, supported by the survey technique and the Organizational Entrenchment Measurement questionnaire - MEO, developed by the authors Rodrigues and Bastos (2015). The results show that the studied population has a medium level of entrenchment in organizations. The state capital points to a lower organizational entrenchment than in the other regions, including the metropolitan region. This result may be associated with the fact that in this region more opportunities arise in the same sector and workers do not perceive a high limitation of alternatives as in the interior of the state.
