摘要
An approach to model the flow of multi-phase material such as progressive slope failure is proposed based on some mechanical and probabilistic consideration of the particle motion. The seepage behavior of rain water into particulate material is numerically simulated by the model for voids. Then the failure and flow of particulate material is numerically simulated by some simple equations for the free falling of a particle and the collision of two particles. It is found out from the numerical results that the proposed approach can simulate the seepage of water into particulate material followed by the failure and flow and the influence of cohesion between particles on the failure mode of particulate material is made clear.
